Arthur Philip Dent is the main protagonist of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy franchise. He is an ape-descended lifeform from the planet Earth. He narrowly avoided the Vogon's demolition of the Earth by hitching a lift onto a Vogon Constructor Fleet ship with the aid of his good friend, Ford Prefect.
