Ford Prefect is the deuteragonist of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy franchise. He is a Guide researcher originating from the planet of Betelgeuse V. He narrowly avoided the Vogon's demolition of the Earth by hitching a lift onto a Vogon Constructor Fleet ship, rescuing his good friend Arthur Dent in the process.
Ford is the semicousin of Zaphod Beeblebrox, whom he grew up with.
